WELCOME TO CHIBO COFFEE:
AN ETHIOPIAN CAFÈ!

A Coffee Shop with History

Coffee originated in Ethiopia, where it became an integral part of the culture. Its purpose was to bring the community together- to discuss not only life’s hardships, but also its celebrations.

My wife and I moved here from Ethiopia over 22 years ago, where we started our early careers in the hospitality industry. We have always had a passion for helping others and knew that our vision would one day follow this passion. We moved to the Gwinnett area together, where we fell in love with the community and its people. We were inspired by the idea of bringing our culture to it, where we could not only educate others about our country, but also bring a little bit of home with us. The result: Chibo Coffee!

We wanted to bring our community just that: a way to unify, celebrate, and enjoy life’s little moments over good coffee and food. That’s why we named our shop Chibo Coffee. Chibo means torch in Amharic, the main language of Ethiopia. It represents inclusiveness, excellence, freedom, opportunity, hope, and unity. We strive to deliver everything that Chibo symbolizes, from the way we brew our coffee, to the way we welcome every face we see.

The Origin of Fresh Roasted Ethiopian Coffee:

Freshness is paramount when it comes to enjoying Ethiopian coffee at its best. The journey begins in the lush coffee-growing regions of Ethiopia, including Sidamo, Yirgacheffe, and Harrar, where coffee cherries are handpicked with care. These cherries undergo meticulous processing, which can involve either the washed, natural, or honey processing methods, each imparting distinct flavors to the beans.

The aroma of freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee is captivating, with floral, fruity, and sometimes spicy notes wafting through the air. Upon brewing, the coffee releases a symphony of flavors, from the bright acidity of lemons and berries to the subtle sweetness of caramel and chocolate. Each sip unveils layers of complexity, inviting coffee connoisseurs on a sensory journey through Ethiopia’s terroir.

Really pleasant staff upon entrance. I needed a good cup while working in the area, popped in not knowing the place, & wasn't disappointed. Great latte & samosa pastry.
